No Satisfaction: Keith Richards Still Trying to Sell NYC Apartment
Looks like the Greenwich Village apartment owned by Rolling Stone Keith Richards is still gathering moss.
According to Variety, the four-bedroom pad on Fifth Avenue has been listed and relisted four times in the last year, always at the same price—$12.23 million. It’s now being repped by Amalia Ferrante with Corcoran Group.
The co-op unit sits on the top of 1 Fifth Ave., an Art Deco building constructed in 1929 as a luxury hotel. Current A-list residents of the complex include Emmy winner Blythe Danner and Oscar winner Jessica Lange.
Richards’ 2,700-square-foot, duplex penthouse, which was renovated in 2011, boasts open views of Greenwich Village and the Manhattan skyline.
The open floor plan includes a 47-foot-long expanse of living, dining, and entertainment space; a sun-filled, white kitchen; a master bedroom with shower stall and soaking tub; and an open staircase with a leather-wrapped bronze railing that leads to two en suite bedrooms. The unit also includes three terraces.
Richards bought the apartment in 2014 for $10.5 million, listed it in March 2016, and has stubbornly clung to its $12 million-plus price tag ever since.
Guitarist Richards, who is 73, is a founding member of the Rolling Stones. Fourteen songs that Richards wrote with frontman Mick Jagger are among Rolling Stone magazine’s “500 Greatest Songs of All Time.” He’s married to model Patti Hansen.
