Let’s all raise a red cup to this spectacular Scottsdale, AZ, home that’s on the market for $12.5 million.

Built in 1997, the property was the second home of Robert Leo Hulseman, inventor of the red Solo Cup, the ubiquitous vessel of beverages at college parties, tailgates, and picnics.

Hulseman, who was the CEO for his Illinois-based family business, Solo Cup Company, retired in 2006. He died in 2016, at the age of 84.

The six-bedroom, eight-bath estate is a spacious 11,250 square feet and sits on 16 acres. According to the listing, the “timeless contemporary was inspired with an unlimited budget, a blank canvas for architectural creativity, and a one-of-kind site with views of the entire southern horizon.”

Indeed, the eye-catching roof design features “folded plates” of copper that blend into the surrounding landscape. Interior details include limestone flooring, steel doors, a dry-stacked sandstone fireplace, and custom copper details and trim on windows, doorways, and walls.

The main residence includes a master suite plus three en suite bedrooms and multiple living and entertaining areas. A bank of windows provides gorgeous views of sunsets, city lights, and the mountains from the hilltop acreage.

A detached two-bedroom guesthouse includes a kitchen and living room. The outdoor space features a lap pool that “floats” in a black granite box, a play pool with spa, and multiple sun decks and covered patios. In fact, you can see plenty of opportunities to whip out  red cups for all kinds of outdoor entertaining. We suggest a spirited game of beer pong.

For the record, the Solo Cup comes in many different colors—Hulseman’s favorite was apparently blue—but red is the most popular.

Along with the cup, he also helped create the “traveler lid,” found on the to-go cups at Starbucks, and which may be even more common than the throw-away cup.

Jay Pennypacker holds the listing. Your move, Toby Keith.
