Tourism may not be the Philippines’ forte when compared to the performance of some of its ASEAN neighbours. But it is doing fine, thank you very much. The archipelago welcomed six million foreign tourists last year, overshooting earlier projections of 5.9 million, according to the country’s Department of Tourism.

This dynamic, emerging market will be the subject of the Hospitality Investment Conference Philippines (HICP) on 16 and 17 February at the Raffles Fairmont Makati. The event will be host to some of Asia-Pacific’s leading hospitality experts, property developers, and designers, plus reputed stakeholders in hotel and resort development in the Philippines.

This year’s venerable list of speakers includes Jeff Tisdall of AccorHotels; John Alarcon of Melia Hotels International; Jens Reichert of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts; and Alexandra Yao of Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

HICP will kick-start a yearlong stream of hospitality conferences by event organiser Sphere Exhibits. Following the Philippines, the hospitality conference series will continue in Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand and Indian Ocean.
