Pitcher Mike Leake Flies Away From the Cardinals and His Missouri Mansion
MLB pitcher Mike Leake has left the St. Louis Cardinals via a midseason trade in 2017. Now, the righty is also saying goodbye to his Missouri home, which is on the market for $3.5 million.
The starting pitcher was traded to the Seattle Mariners only a year and a half after signing a long-term deal with the Redbirds, so it’s likely he has no more use for a home that’s a convenient drive to Busch Stadium.
Still, his European-style estate in St. Louis is quite a catch, so perhaps another athlete will want to take a swing at it.
The 7,600-square-foot home on 2.51 acres was built in 2015 and has five bedrooms, five baths, and two half-baths. The layout includes a two-story foyer, paneled library, dining room, and great room with slate fireplace.
The huge kitchen comes with commercial-grade appliances, large center island, and vaulted breakfast room. The family area includes a hearth room with stone fireplace and atrium doors that open to a screened porch.
The master bedroom offers a “lavish” bath. Front and rear staircases plus an elevator access four more bedrooms, two that are en suite and two with a jack-and-jill bath.
A walk-out lower level includes a rec room, workout space, and full bath with a sauna. The landscaped grounds include a patio, pool, and four-car garage.
Leake, a San Diego native, attended Arizona State University and jumped straight from college to the big leagues in 2010 with the Cincinnati Reds. After being traded to the San Francisco Giants for a brief stint, he signed a five-year, $75 million deal with St. Louis before the 2016 season. Now getting settled in Seattle, Leake still has three years left on his contract to ply his trade in the Pacific Northwest.
