Jill Stevens is a real estate reporter for the Daily Telegraph.
A CENTRAL COAST buyer has snapped up an unusual Tumbi Umbi six-bedder.
The home, at 6 Coolong Close, sits on a full hectare of pristine north-facing land, but it is the interiors that are truly eye-catching.
The vendors built the home 12 years ago but decided to mimic a 1900s home as closely as they could, both inside and out. The result was a unique aesthetic, with lots of pink, purple and green.
Agent Greg Wild of Century 21 Forresters Beach, said he couldn’t reveal the home’s sale price, but added he’d been told the property’s interiors are very authentic.
“Apparently, that was the colours back then,” he said of the home’s bright pink kitchen, and bold pink and green walls, adding “the photos don’t do it justice”.
The sellers, who love antiques, paid close attention to detail throughout the build, which features antique ceilings, ornate cornices, and plenty of retro furniture.
While the home looks a little bit like a doll’s house, the home’s new owners have teenage children rather than little ones.
“They thought that it would be a good move,” Mr Wild said.
He said the buyers loved the home’s palatial proportions and large block.
While the sellers still love the property they built from scratch, they’ve decided to downsize.
“It’s a big home for two people,” Mr Wild said.
