Reese Witherspoon’s Former Bel Air Estate Finds a New Owner
The Bel Air, CA, estate where actors and former couple Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe once lived has found a new owner, according to the Los Angeles Times. The property, which went on the market in July for nearly $16 million, recently went under contract.
“There’s a great fullness about the property,” says listing agent Rick Ojeda with Partners Trust. “It keeps on giving.”
Beyond its celebrity pedigree, the 1969 property has many appealing amenities.
Designed by Gerard Colcord, the grandiose Los Angeles home looks to have drawn inspiration from medieval churches.
The estate sits on an acre lot and includes nearly 9,000 square feet of living space. The main house features pitched beamed ceilings and a brick fireplace with built-in seating. On the same floor are a media room, kitchen, and spacious master wing with sitting room and wet bar. The remaining bedrooms are on the upper level.
There’s also a two-story, poolside guesthouse with full kitchen and washer/dryer. The yard with canyon views features a pool, spa, and outdoor kitchen.
Witherspoon and Phillippe, who were married from 1999 to 2007, sold the house in 2004 for $4.5 million, says The Real Deal. Witherspoon is now married to talent agent Jim Toth, and they live in Pacific Palisades.
The next owners renovated the property and boosted the sales price to just under $16 million.
“The improvements are just stunning,” Ojeda says. “It has fully delivered.”
