At the end of the 2015 season, relief pitcher Jeremy Affeldt bid adieu to the San Francisco Giants and his big-league career, retiring at the age of 36 with three World Series rings. Now he’s ready to say goodbye to his custom-built Craftsman-style home in Spokane, WA. It is listed for sale for $1.8 million.
The reliable reliever had the 7,500-square-foot home built for him in 2008 by Dave Parsons, a builder in Spokane.
“He worked with the builder to make a masterpiece basically,” says listing agent Todd Grubb of True Northwest Group with Keller Williams Realty. He says Affeldt and his wife were both “longtime residents” of the area who lived in the house during the baseball off-season.
The impressive six-bedroom home is made with natural stone and wood. It features a huge kitchen, 8-foot doors made of alder wood, and plaster relief art in certain rooms. The master bedroom has a fireplace, walk-in closet, and plaster molding of two trees that reach from the baseboards to the ceiling. A six-car garage, outdoor hot tub with mountain views, a safe room, and a full-size bar top off this mountainside paradise.
But there’s more. In 2012, Grubb says, Affeldt added a two-story area with an entertainment room, sauna, and 2,500-square-foot gym where the pitcher worked on his release point.
“He threw baseballs, so there’s some holes in the wall,” Grubb says. “He did bow archery there, too.”
So, for $1.8 million you not only get this cozy Craftsman, you also get the dents made by the man with three World Series rings.
