Rink Included! Hockey Hall of Famer Igor Larionov Selling Michigan Mansion

Hockey Hall of Famer Igor Larionov has decided to find some new home ice. He’s put his Bloomfield Township, MI, home on the market for $3.4 million.

Custom-built for Larionov’s family in 2013, the 7,779-square-foot home features five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, two half-baths, a stone veranda, two patios, and an outdoor kitchen and entertainment space. It sits on 1.72 acres.

“I’ve been in the [real estate] business since 1979, and it’s best house I’ve had,” says listing agent James McRitchie. Notable interior features include wood paneling, wainscoting, wine room, exercise room, and, of course, a faux ice rink. The master suite includes a sitting room with fireplace.

“It just goes on and on and on,” McRitchie says of the home’s upscale features. Yet it feels cozy rather than cavernous.

“It functions extremely well for a home that’s almost 7,800 square feet,” he notes. The home was decorated by Larionov’s wife, who’s a former Russian figure skater.  Her design taste is “exceptional,” McRitchie says.

Larionov, known as “the Professor” for his hockey know-how, led a wave of Russian hockey players who came over to the National Hockey League as the Cold War came to a close. After starring in the Soviet pro league for 12 seasons, he played in the NHL from 1989 to 2004, winning Stanley Cups with the Detroit Red Wings in 1997, 1998, and 2002. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2008 and has stayed involved in hockey as an agent for new Russian players attempting to make it in the NHL.
