Sammy Hagar Selling His .3M Cliff-Top Estate on Maui
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar has hoisted his oceanside Hawaiian retreat onto the market for $3.3 million, according to the Los Angeles Times.
On Maui’s north shore in the town of Haiku, the 10-acre property is perched on a cliff overlooking Waipio Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Built in 1993, the three-bedroom, three-bathroom main house features an open floor plan, vaulted ceilings, and walls of windows.
The upgraded kitchen has stone-topped counters and an island. Outside there’s a pizza oven, a Tiki bar, and a saltwater pool with an island in the middle of it.
Other perks include a one-bedroom guesthouse, 1,000-square-foot garage, tilapia pool, and 400-foot-deep well dug into volcanic rock. Fruit trees throughout the property provide a steady supply of coconuts, bananas, papayas, and limes. There’s also a waterfall and a three-hole golf course.
Hagar, 70, bought the estate about 20 years ago because it had “everything we were looking for—lots of land, self sustainable, private incredible view,” according to the Pacific Business News.
If you can survive on fish, fruit, and eggs—there’s also a chicken coop—then the property’s self-sustainable, says listing agent Becky Hanna with Island Sotheby’s International Realty. You’ll never have to set foot outside your island paradise for food or water.
“They’ve dug a well, which is huge on Maui,” says Hanna, “Water is perceived to be a precious resource here. Having this well is a real bonus.”
