“Desperate Housewives” star Teri Hatcher has put her longtime home in Studio City, CA, on the rental market for $25,000 to $30,000 per month.
Hatcher, 53, won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Susan Mayer, a newly divorced mother living on Wisteria Lane—a seemingly perfect suburban neighborhood with a curious history of crime, lies, and mysterious deaths.
She was also Lois Lane on ABC’s “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” and appeared in the James Bond film “Tomorrow Never Dies.” On “Seinfeld,” she delivered this now-famous line: “They’re real, and they’re spectacular.”
In January, Hatcher launched a YouTube series called “Hatching Change,” where she cooks healthy meals, and drives around in a 1978 Volkswagen camper van, inviting strangers to talk to her about life. She shoots the cooking episodes at the house she’s now put up for rent.
In 2000 Hatcher picked up the three-bedroom, five-bath house, where she raised her daughter, Emerson, who recently moved away to college. (Hatcher discusses being an empty nester on her YouTube show.)
The ’60s-era house is located on nearly a half-acre in Fryman Estates, a quiet neighborhood that’s also home to George Clooney, Miley Cyrus, Bruno Mars, and other celebrities. It’s a short drive to the backlot at Universal Studios, where “Desperate Housewives” was filmed.
Hatcher’s eclectic style is evident in the home’s decor. The gated entrance opens to a private courtyard with a pool, spa, outdoor fireplace, and outdoor kitchen.
Bright red double doors open to the home’s study, which has a funky fireplace and dark blue built-in bookcases. Just off the entrance, there’s a formal dining room with sliding glass doors that open to the backyard. The kitchen features a chef’s island, gas range, and forest green cabinetry.
Hatcher apparently collects ceramic figurines (or, perhaps, salt and pepper sets?), which line the window sills in the kitchen, breakfast nook, and living room.
The master bedroom has a fireplace and enough space for a sitting area and office. The master bathroom has a jetted tub (which appears briefly in an episode of “Hatching Change” in which she’s cooking chicken), wall-mounted TV, and, in case you really need a shot of caffeine in the morning, a Keurig coffee maker on the countertop.
Elsewhere there’s a home gym, koi pond with waterfall, play structure, and trampoline.
Best of all, the home comes fully furnished. The actress is offering it for $25,000 a month for short-term rentals, and $30,000 a month for long-term rentals. Lee Ziff of Keller Williams Beverly Hills holds the listing.
