Thai SME Expansion Support Looks to Cambodia
In an interview with The Nation, a major Thai publication, the director-general of The International Trade Promotion Department Malee Choklumlerd said that after the success of their first Proactive Project which helped 2,602 SMEs generate a combined income of THB8.89 billion, it is now willing to invest THB400 million more to for SMEs that will focus on innovation and the environment.
They intend to break into overseas markets most especially in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam from 2016 to 2018 which is also the duration of the project. SMEs will be able to apply by proposing marketing plans through institutions such as the Federation of Thai Industries and the Thai National Shippers Council.
Can this mean quirky and innovative infrastructures for Cambodia and the other CLMV countries? We’re remaining hopeful.
