The renovation of National Road No. 5 finished 15%
The renovation of National Road No. 5 from Prek Kdam to Thlea Ma Om will be finished by 2022, according to senior officials from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT).
According to the Ministry of Information website, the National Road No 5 Prek Kdam to Thlea Ma Om has a total length of 135.24 km, which was commenced in April 2018 and currently is completed by 15%. The construction is projected to finish by April 2022.
On March 4, 2020, during the ODA Press Tour’s, Mr. Don Juan Rogan, Project Officer at Ministry of Public Works and Transport, said: “The project will be the ASEAN Highway as part of the Southern Economic Corridor and plays an important role to link regional activities.”
Notably, this renovation of the national no. 5 project is using approximately $246.350. 000 loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Once completed, this section of the ASEAN Highway is expected to increase import and export in the country and is a potential route for the Cambodian economy. People on the streets will have a better life through the growth of investment, investment and tourism from the transport.
