‘The Wife’ in Westchester: Glenn Close Selling .6M Country Estate in New York

Award-winning actress Glenn Close is selling her award-worthy home, according to the Real Deal.

Known as Beanfield, the Bedford Hills, NY, estate has been owned by the actress for three decades. Located about an hour outside Manhattan, the property is on the market for $3.6 million.

Built in 1910, the picturesque farmhouse has been artfully expanded to 5,773 square feet. Renovated by Norwalk, CT–based architecture firm Reno, Shope and Wharton, the home melds modern conveniences with period details.

The four-bedroom, 4.5-bath home comes with five fireplaces and features original millwork and moldings throughout. Additional structures on the 10-acre property include a two-car garage, a child’s playhouse, a guest cottage, and a barn converted into an office.

The property last changed hands in 1989 for $1.17 million, according to real estate records. Close is placing the home on the market a year after her daughter, Annie Stark, held her wedding at the scenic spot, according to Dwell magazine.

The floor plan includes a living room, a formal dining room with a connected butler’s pantry, and a library with built-ins. A family room and breakfast table open to a rear deck. The adjacent kitchen offers high-end appliances and bar seating.

The master suite features a bath with two sinks and a jetted tub, and an attached office. 

Along with a large deck, pool and spa, the grounds include old-growth trees, flowering gardens, and open meadows.

Close is not the only celebrity selling property in the area.

Claudio Reyna, former captain of the U.S. men’s national soccer team, recently listed his Bedford Corners, NY, estate for $2.1 million. Also in Bedford Corners, “Die Hard” star Bruce Willis and wife Emma Heming listed their 22-acre property at the beginning of the year; it has since been reduced to $8.7 million.

A natural on the screen and stage, the Oscar nominee most recently starred in “The Wife,” for which she won a Golden Globe. Known for her starring roles in “Fatal Attraction” and “Dangerous Liaisons,” the three-time Emmy winner also starred in the TV series “Damages.”
