Vietnam Property Awards 2016 final shortlist announced

Judging panel reveals the final shortlist for Vietnam’s biggest awards programme and justifies the buzz around the country’s real estate market

Vietnam Property Awards 2015

It’s time to raise a glass for this year’s official shortlist of nominees for the Vietnam Property Awards 2016, the most exclusive and most respected industry awards programme in the country.

Presented by Hansgrohe, the second annual Vietnam Property Awards will celebrate the achievements of the country’s established and emerging developers, with a total of 22 award categories.

Acteam International Co Ltd and Phu Quoc Development & Investment Joint Stock Company each collected five nominations and lead the 21 developers who are finalists in 2016.

Acteam International’s main bet is the eco-tourism project called The Dalat at 1200 condominiums and villas in Highlands Vietnam, while the mixed-use Novotel Phu Quoc Resort by Phu Quoc Development & Investment is in the running in the hotel sub-categories. Both projects will go head-to-head for the Best Green Development gong in a four-way race that includes The Ascent – Thao Dien Condominiums and office property Deutsches Haus Ho Chi Minh Stadt.

Multiple nominations also went to CapitaLand (Vietnam) and commercial developer Tanzanite International, receiving three and four nods each, respectively.

All the Winners and Highly Commended will be revealed in a black-tie gala dinner at the InterContinental Asiana Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday, 10 June. The prestigious ceremony, which will be covered by Vietnam’s most influential media outfits, expects an attendance of more than 400 industry leaders, C-level executives and real estate professionals. The event will also be promoted across Southeast Asia via the network of PropertyGuru, Asia’s leading property media group.

The distinguished Vietnam National Real Estate Association (VNREA), the biggest real estate organisation in the country led by chairman Mr Nguyen Tran Nam, the Vice Minister of Construction, will be sending a VIP representative to grace the gala dinner and give the keynote address before the presentation of the awards, which will be preceded by the inaugural conference Property Report Congress Vietnam in the daytime.

After a well-publicised real estate recovery in the past couple of years supported by a seven-year high of 6.7 percent GDP growth in 2015, the stakes are high for all the finalists in the Vietnam Property Awards.

According to this year’s chairman of the judges, Thien Duong, managing director at Transform Architecture, the Awards are designed to provide a much-needed boost for developers in this exciting cycle of the local property sector.

“The shortlisted companies can be proud that they have made benchmark contributions to the built environment while providing high value for money to their customers and investors,” the acclaimed designer says. “This is an opportunity for businesses in Vietnam to strive not just for profit but to create brands that have long-term credibility in the market.”

He adds: “Well-designed and developed projects help to elevate the level of standard for properties in Vietnam. The finalists of the Vietnam Property Awards no doubt offer quality projects, and the event will provide a great amount of exposure to the local market as well as to foreign investors.”

Before the gala event at the InterContinental Asiana Saigon, the editors of Asia’s leading luxury real estate, architecture and design publication, Property Report, will reveal the recipient of the 2016 Real Estate Personality of the Year award. The only accolade not chosen by the independent panel of judges, it is given to the individual who has had great success in the local property sector in the past year.

Top winners will compete at the South East Asia Property Awards 2016 in Singapore in November to represent Vietnam at the grand finals. BDO, one of the world’s biggest accounting firms, has been named trusted awards supervisor for both Vietnam and Singapore.

“These are world-class developments that have chosen to be judged by an independent panel of judges. The official shortlist gives us a clear picture that developers in Vietnam are committed to produce the finest real estate the country has seen to date,” says Terry Blackburn, founder and managing director of the Asia Property Awards, which is now in its 11th year.

“With outstanding nominees coming from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, Phu Quoc and Nha Trang, the gala dinner will once again be an electrifying evening where the country’s best of the best in real estate are assembled.”
