After renowned architect Richard Landry purchased a beach house in Malibu, CA, then spent five years and $6 million remodeling it, he wasn’t inclined to use plain old photos to sell the home.

After all, Landry is the “Architect to the Stars,” the man who built lavish estates for celebrities including Mark WahlbergGisele BundchenTom Brady, and Wayne Gretzky.

A drone flyover and a few elegantly staged shots of his $12 million beachfront property simply wouldn’t suffice.

So, the architect turned to technology company Matterport to help market his luxurious home. The resulting immersive tour feels like you’re walking through the modern mansion. See for yourself…

It seems as though you can walk right up to the bar and poor yourself a drink, doesn’t it? Or perhaps bounce on the bed in the master suite?

It’s one thing for us to describe the home as a glorious three-story modern marvel with an open floor plan and four bedrooms and 3.5 baths, but it’s quite another to be able to explore it for yourself.

The tour gives potential buyers a feel for the white Nanoglass slabs and plaster wall finishes that Landry used, and how the first floor flows from the oceanfront living room into the dining area, then to the kitchen with the outdoor deck.

You can glide through the indoor-outdoor recreation space with pocket doors between the media room, custom bar, and roof terrace with fire pit and built-in barbecue.

“Scanning Landry’s chic Malibu home felt like what Sebastiao Salgado must’ve felt like shooting the most beautiful landscapes in the world,” the Matterport photographer who worked on the project told us.

“You want to do justice to the exquisite look of the space and capture the nuance in the design.”

With this 3-D tour, you almost don’t need to physically visit the 4,298-square-foot home in a private subdivision off Broad Beach Road. Almost. But if you’re going to spend big, you’d better at least smell the ocean air first.
